July 28-29 2017 Reunion, Yankton, SD

 Reunion Information

The Saturday picnic will be at Lewis & Clark Resort in the east picnic shelter. We will plan on eating at noon. I believe we have it reserved for the entire day so feel free to come whenever you wish. Off of highway 52, you will want to turn into the entrance for the Marina. Then you will see signs for the resort. Families in our group have cabins 1, 3 and 4. There is a small parking lot by these cabins. There is more parking near the office. There is another huge family reunion also going on so if you aren't staying at the resort, it might make sense to get there early to get a good parking spot. There is an entrance fee to get into the resort and most places out at the lake. The daily fee is $6 per car. You can buy an annual SD State Park Pass for $30 (and another $15 if you have an additional vehicle).

The Saturday lunch will be catered and the menu will be something like this:
  • Chicken
  • rolls
  • baked beans
  • potato salad
  • coleslaw
  • more salads
  • cheesy potatoes
If everyone could bring a dessert or side, here are some ideas:
  • fruit tray
  • veggie tray
  • dessert
  • salad
  • snacks
  • appetizers

We will have iced tea and a big jug of water for filling your water bottles. (Please bring your water bottles). If you want something else to drink, please bring it with you.

We are near a beach so bring your bathing suit and beach gear. There is also a swimming pool at the resort. There is a basketball court and a beach volleyball pit at the resort so bring basketballs and volleyballs. There are also horseshoe pits. Please bring any other yard games you wish.

Friday night dinner will be hosted by the Lillie's, Our base camp will be Cabin 3 at the resort. Bring your lawn chairs and whatever you want to drink. (We will have water-please bring your water bottles if you have them). We will have some extra lawn chairs as I know we have some people that are flying in. Come on over anytime after 5:00 pm.

There are lots of things to do out at the lake but if you have some extra time, here are some other things to see/do.

  • Walk or bike across the historic Meridian Bridge to Nebraska (from Riverside Park downtown). It is the longest pedestrian bridge connecting two states.

  • Gavins Point Dam is the last dam on the Missouri River. The power plant offers tours M-F on the hour (except at noon).
  • Lewis & Clark Visitor Center on the Nebraska side near the dam. They have lots of exhibits on the Lewis & Clark expedition and more.
  • Gavins Point National Fish Hatchery & Aquarium
  • Dakota Territorial Museum--ask about location as they may have moved-or have two locations?

Let me know if you have questions or if I have forgotten something.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
